I have had skin cancer myself and based on the knowledge that I have today, I am pretty sure that the sunglasses were, at least to a large extent, the cause of this.
This was in 2012. I had a birthmark on my stomach, which was irritated and itchy. I remember that I got a strong feeling (I shuddered all over my body) that I should show it to a doctor.
It then turned out that it was cancer. However, it was removed already at the first doctor's visit and later a larger piece was also taken to make sure that nothing was left. However, there was nothing left and it hadn’t spread.
I've had glasses since the early 2000s, and I've always had glasses that automatically turn dark outside. The glasses I have now are 5 years old, so when I bought them, I didn't know yet how harmful this was. I chose these for convenience, so I wouldn't have to carry sunglasses with me everywhere. Nowadays, I don't wear my glasses outside, even when I'm driving, if it's sunny.
I used to be quite sensitive to light, so I needed to wear sunglasses, both outdoors and in the car. But now that I haven't used sunglasses outdoors or the car for quite a while (maybe 2-3 years) I'm no longer sensitive to light. I can look straight at the sun or drive a car with the sun in my eyes, without any bigger problems. I also find it easier to drive in the dark than before, which also probably has something to do with this.
So in conclusion, I am convinced that the sun has many positive effects on our health and that sunglasses are bad.
