During the 1950s, Sweden conducted an experiment at the Vipeholm Hospital for the intellectually disabled.
The experiments involved feeding them large amounts of sweets, including "extra sticky toffee" to see how it affected their teeth.
By the end of the study, many patient's teeth were so rotten that they were completely black.
